The Fish and Game people brought the 'orphaned' young moose to Wendell and Debbie, asking them to raise the moose to a safe age before turning him loose again. Wendell and Debbie bottle fed the young moose ...and cared for him. After awhile, they allowed the young moose to feed along with their cows. Last Spring, when the moose was a year old, it was time to turn him out into the wild. They opened the gate and off he went. He was gone all summer; then, this fall, he was back with the cows. Everyone was happy to see him. He is pretty friendly and a very sweet creature. He loves honey buns and will eat them right out of your mouth.

Wendell and Debbie live up in the mountains. When they brought the cows down to the pasture, the moose would get lonely. He headed down looking for another herd of cows to hang out with. Some neighbors called about a week later and asked Wendell to please come and get his Moose. Wendell headed out with a honey bun, bucket of grain and the horse trailer and brought the moose back home. The moose is free to go anytime he wants but for now, is choosing to stay put. We think when Spring comes, he will start to feel a bit like a male Moose and take off. For now, he is happy. See the pictures.
